We are delighted to announce the arrival of our three new scholars and faculty!
Valmont Layne, who arrived on August 15, is a visiting PhD scholar from the University of the Western Cape in the Department of History. He has completed a Master's thesis on the history of jazz and dance band music in postwar South Africa. Find out more about Valmont and his current work here.
Anuradha Marwah arrived on August 22 and is a visiting faculty member from the Department of English at Delhi University. She is Associate Professor and is also an author working on creative writing, drama, and performance of Indian fiction in English. Learn more about Professor Marwah here.
Tim Frye received an Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellowship from the University of Minnesota Graduate School and is hosted by ICGC for the 2017-18 academic year. Tim is a PhD scholar in the Spanish & Portuguese department and works on the impact of large infrastructure and megaprojects on the environment and communities in Latin America. We also want to extend a warm welcome back to Sma Mkhwanazi, who is returning to Minnesota for a visit through mid-September. Sma is a lecturer in the Department of Education Leadership and Management at UNISA (South Africa) and while in Minnesota studies under the mentorship of UMNTC professor Fran Vavrus (OLPD). She has previously been with ICGC in 2015.
